Dear Heavenly Father, please reign down humility

25+ year friends
Met Brian at My French Cafe near Disney University yesterday. He said a wonderful prayer for me, not knowing the burdens nor the triumphs.

Dear Heavenly Father, please reign down humility. i am astounded by Your generous blessings in the past three weeks. It is almost more than i can bear.

Dear readers, this does not mean i live in the absence of heavy, worrisome burdens. i do.

And i’d love an abundance of humility to graciously accept them both.

And to be abundantly thankful for both.

PS. Brian, in the photo, and i met 30 years ago when our dogs met for the first time in our sprawling neighborhood. The odds of us ever meeting were slim to none. Our Yellow Labs ended up contributing two litters to society.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Perspective is critical for gratitude to thrive

Javelin present
Last night (Jan 4) involved opening some belated Christmas presents, including this Javelin.

If you’ve never experienced Grace and Mercy, it won’t make sense to you until you experience it first hand. It probably will take multiple times for you to experience and comprehend it’s consistency. Grace and Mercy never fail in restoring a troubled soul.

Dear Son, i hope yesterday’s experience (completing your first half-mile run) adds the one experience that helps you reach your tipping point – that you are now convinced, from enough personal experience.

Driven as a parent to teach what school isn’t designed for

Allegiant Air cabin
There’s much to ponder as a 15-year old. Same with the parent of a 15-year old.

Yesterday he befriended the runt of the group. By runt, i mean the youngest, least experienced, poorest member (quality of his card deck) of the weekly Sunday tournament regulars. Even going so far as to spend quality time with him as well as sharing his best deck when they played for fun after the tournament concluded.

i saw it as personal growth for a 15-year old.

Can’t help but wonder if he saw it as something remarkable.

Additionally, was thinking about how underwhelming the 8:45am sermon was. Maybe the 15-year old heard something i didn’t.

Maybe it was the result of some cumulative effect.

Maybe it was completely random and unintentional.

Disney has a culture by design, not by default. i’m applying the same cultural blueprint to personal life, including leadership parenting.

And because of this Disney application, i believe we are reaping some of what has been sown for the past decade or so.

Tim Cook’s greatest gift from God

Have a Gay Day Facebook page
One of my favorite Facebook Pages, Have a Gay Day.

Tim Cook said being gay is God’s greatest gift to him.

Why?

He said it is because being in a minority group gives you an empathy to look at things differently.

Until you’ve been in this place, it’s literally impossible to understand.

All this in only one day

Military service dog and handler
Touched by the dedication and bond these two have for serving our Country.

Orlando Sanford remote airport parking
Last night returning to the remote holiday parking lot at Orlando Sanford airport.

Fireworks
After thought photo with sky lit from Magic Kingdom fireworks, from driveway.

Orlando homeowner pool
Calm before the January 1st plunge.

Orlando homeowner pool
After the “polar bear” plunge. Pool water 84 degrees last night.

Looking forward to going to Church tomorrow in a way that is challenging to explain.

We pulled into or driveway last night just after 8pm as the Magic Kingdom fireworks where in full swing.

Took a dip in the pool because i knew the water temperature had hit 84 while we were on the plane home from Pennsylvania, after nine days.

The UPS packages sat, undisturbed, on our front porch for nine days.

Overall, Family in Pennsylvania seemed in decent health.

We don’t need a Church building to officially express our gratitude; however, there are times when you’d really like to lean on tradition.
