Stunned by what’s happening in Charleston. Saw a video yesterday of Family members forgiving the killer of their loved ones. The thief was on camera, listening to the voices of the Family.
It’s a modern day example of Jesus.
Jesus would say, forgive.
Today’s race is quietly dedicated to more extraordinary love like Charleston is offering the killer world.
Please pardon the profanity…every so often something is in our path that the first spontaneous words out of our mouth are, “Holy sugar bear”…
This is one such moment.
(update 09.28.15…the video link below isn’t working at the moment. Sorry. Please use your imagination for something great…maybe the Pope’s visit to America.)
Jesus would be smiling, clapping and humming along to this.
Father Ennis’s Sunday Homily was inspired by a Thomas Merton book, The Seven Storey Mountain. Googled it and read the Amazon book info.
There was an excerpt that captivated me.
Why?
Because if i was smart enough to come up with it, i’d share it and try to convince you to get a copy of my book.
I seek to speak to you, in some way, as your own self. Who can tell what this may mean? I myself do not know, but if you listen, things will be said that are perhaps not written in this book. And this will be due not to me but to the One who lives and speaks in both. – Thomas Merton, The Seven Storey Mountain
Book sales profits are so tiny, it’s literally not worth the effort.
A little known secret no one cares about except one person.
Me.
When i launched the self-imposed 100-day writer’s boot camp challenge – to write five daily, differently-themed blog posts – another, much softer and invisible challenge was also launched.
To begin each morning on bended knees, in prayer.
The difference between surviving and thriving is the investment we are willing to commit to.
