Home back porch expansion
Our home was designed and built with two small steps down to a 10′ x 10′ concrete pad for a back porch. No roof. No money for more than this. i used irrigation pipes to “draw” our expansion plans.

We added a 44′ x 30′ concrete pad in 2000, eight years after our home was built…15′ roof covered and another 15′ screened in.

This photo is an experiment to see if it would work and it did so i’m leaving it. All of this started with a cartoon Mouse in 1928.

Humble beginnings is a common Family story.

Today is the third Sunday of Lent.

Jesus’s story is bathed in humility.

From being born in a stable…to the Savior of the World?

First Sunday of Lent is hidden?

Hidden Mickey by jeff noel
Hidden Mickey at Virginia Falls in Glacier National Park. The purpose of Lent is often hidden too.

Yesterday was the first Sunday of Lent. Lent is really designed to give every Christian 40 days to prepare for the magnificence of the Holy Resurrection.

Does anyone know why “giving something up” for Lent became a thing?

Guessing the discomfort of abstaining from a comfortable habit is a sufficient trigger to remind yourself it is the Lenten season. Or maybe it has to do with Jesus not eating for 40 days – the suffering. Maybe it’s the discomfort suffering.

Christmas wins with presents, Easter wins with purpose

Donald Duck egg at Epcot
Lunch in Japan yesterday. Easter egg?

Christmas means nothing without Easter.

Yesterday’s message during the 4th Sunday in Lent was how Jesus questioned what was happening.

Was he really supposed to walk right into his certain death?

Like we question.

And questioning can lead to doubt.

Doubt to fear.

Fear to resistance.

You are intense and you should be grateful

Lent
Yesterday, less than 24 hours ago.

You are intense and you should be grateful.

Intensity is a gift everyone receives, but not everyone unwraps.

Walt Disney was intense.

Steve Jobs was intense.

Anyone who has ever pushed the limits on what is possible has had to live with the constant headwind of resistance.

For a bicyclist (which i am) on a flat road, a headwind can make peddling feel like the journey is uphill.

But the cyclist knows headwinds will calm, and hills will be summited.

Never feel guilty when you are being true to yourself in an effort to push the boundaries on what is possible.

Reminds me of Jesus.

What’s the most important day of the year for you?

Lent
Yesterday morning.

To me, Easter is the most important day in the history of the civilized world.

What’s the most important day for you?
