The young cat was happy when it chased it’s tail. And only found happiness when engaged in that act.

The wise cat learned long ago that happiness isn’t something we chase, it’s something we carry. Something that follows us wherever we go.

Powerful, Hopeful Dreams

Do you volunteer to help out where you can?

Sounds so simple, doesn’t it?

Most people never do. They intend to, but life gets in the way.

After Mass yesterday, where I volunteered (10 years now) as a Lector, I went looking for Father Ennis. Based on a post last week, I wanted to tell him something.

Something he needs to hear.

Something he probably doesn’t hear nearly enough.

Ever have a casual conversation, and almost invisibly, a “truth” is revealed to you? Happens frequently doesn’t it?

Two nights ago while eating dinner and talking on speaker phone, my Mother-In-Law (88) was describing her Sunday. She’s always the last to leave Mass, because my Father-In-Law (85) walks incredibly slow these days, she told the Priest how much she liked his Homily (sermon).

The Priest commented that no one ever tells him if they like his preaching.

I guess we take it for granted.

But why?

How many words is a picture worth?

And how many words are in this picture?

Doesn’t matter. What matters is that we don’t go through our daily motions and miss inspirational moments, so that we can let that inspiration linger in us long enough to pay it forward.

The words in the picture that did that for me?

“And let us Love each other well, in Christian Holiness”.

Let’s forgive each other our human sins, as we would expect, or hope, others would do for us.

Pray, Pay, Obey

What does that mean exactly?  Growing up Luthern, in a small Pennsylvania town, there weren’t many Catholics. In fact, I don’t recall knowing what a Catholic was until college.

Well, life comes full circle and here I am, a devoted Catholic for over a decade. There are something like 15,000 members of our Holy Family congregation. All walks of like.

One of them, I see occasionally at Gold’s Gym.  We recently had a nice conversation with these highlights:

Draw nearer to God and God will draw nearer to you. James 4:8.

True love doesnt force anything.

Greed, sloth, doubt, hypocracy – the four points in the circle surrounding the four squares.

Pay, pray and obey Catholic.  This is how my friend (60-something) described himself.

God does not want good men in heaven, he wants Saints.

Gotta go.  Time to work on praying, obeying, paying and demonstrating.
