5-second video: Guessing wild animals would never get this close in a true (non-National Park) wilderness.
8-second video: Before Glacier became a National Park, there’s always a chance no human ever stepped foot On Mount Oberlin’s summit.

Learned yesterday, on the trail chatting with a Back Country Ranger, that National Park Back Country Rangers are being renamed Wilderness Rangers.

Wilderness.

Named after “the wild”.

None of us 21st century humans can comprehend “the wild”.

This is so cool to watch. Spectacular, unique solitude.
6-second video: Amazing Grace.

Wondered if the clouds would envelop the summit. Would the views vanish? Would you be able to see six feet in front of you?

Miraculously, the clouds stayed low, in the 7,000’ range. At 8,200’, the mountain-top views remained.

13-second video: A second look…there are 11 Goats. You may notice two hikers nearby. Met them about 10 minutes later…a 70 and 73 year old “born and raised in West Glacier” couple.

Seeing wildlife deep in the wilderness is strikingly different than seeing animals from the road.

Don’t get me wrong, seeing animals from Going-To-The-Sun Road is special.

Why?

Because Sun Road cuts deep through the wilderness.

That said, there is a safety you feel from your car that isn’t an option miles from the nearest car.
