Dear Son

Wake up calls are a gift, as painful as they are

Wake up calls are a gift if we choose to thrive instead of survive.

Most teens are struggling (like most adults) to find their way.

And in our pain, we look for (temporary) relief.

This is the root cause of addiction.

Tough love is called for.

With ourselves.

With the people we love.

The timing is often spontaneous.

Last night i threw our son’s iPhone 6 into the pool. The photo above was taken a few minutes ago; the morning after.

Jeff,

I feel exactly what you are saying, with one firmly entrenched in teenhood and the other about to jump in with both feet. But I also get it with myself.

So thank you!!!

Bob
