Oh My Gosh, Dear Lord

Dear Lord, thank you for yesterday’s challenge? Oh my gosh, second straight month this child has tested my patience with disruptive behavior. Last month from the back row while Cheryl spoke. But yesterday, from the front row, while I spoke.

As obvious as the opposing fans behind the basketball backboard waving those noodles. But I’m completely engaged with launching the sermon – about Jesus’ authority of all topics. Aghast by his blatantly disrespectful mocking, and his undeterred behavior, even with my improvisation to call it out in hopes he’d stop.

I quickly drew every child’s attention to the image below and launched a different sermon than intended…

This is what gives Jesus authority over other teachers.

  1. My whole class was wired this past Sunday. We are winding down. For some it was their last class for the year. We reviewed the yearly highlights. My job to re-give them that last take home message of the year: With every act if kindness, no matter how big or small, YOU extend the Eucharist that receive at Mass. YOU are Christ working here on earth. Already looking forward to having them again as a class next year.

  2. Patty, it’s challenging to turn down the volume for a wired group, as you know from experience. One method is from martial arts… using (redirecting) the other person’s energy to protect yourself.

Thought: could you stay connected with them through your blog…until you all meet again?
