All they talk about is how grateful they are to be back

All they talk about is how grateful they are to be back

There are some among us who have been to hell and back (and we all have) but you would never know because they never talk about how awful it was. All they talk about is how grateful they are to be back.

Be kind to those positive, happy souls who do not seem to be affected by tragedy, heartbreak, overwhelming stress and pressure and the entire catalog of other challenges.

Anyone hearing that echo?

… all they talk about is how grateful they are to be back.

Jeff, I am just filled with gratitude this morning for this post. It’s rough, it is just hell to be at war for SO MANY years — so many men and women and families affected by this terrible tragedy — so many people trying to recover their lives and get reintegrated into a civilian society.

For the most part, our brave veterans are invisible — how often I have wished that they would carry flags with them so that we could stop and shake their hand and thank them face to face for all the ways they have served and kept us safe… Let’s all try to be sensitive to hear and see our vets around us — THEY ARE HERE all around us and YES, they are so glad to be back.

Natalie, wow, you are so insanely right. Thank you for the reminder. The brave, unselfish warriors that provide our blanket of freedom. We are so deeply indebted. Forever.

The post was inspired by those who think people who ‘have it made’ somehow don’t have to worry about or feel deep, gut-wrenching physical and emotional pain.

We all do. No exceptions. Not talking about the pain does’t mean there aren’t scars worth showing.
