Two Big Prayers?

Two Big Prayers? Pray that I can achieve the following two impossible goals:

  1. To become the kind of person my dog thinks I am.
  2. That when our son goes looking for Jesus, he’ll only have to look across the dining room table.

Do you have a few really BIG goals in your life? Are you comfortable posting them in the comments section?

  1. Dear Jeff,

I have a couple of Big Goal prayers:

    1) To see both my sons accept Jesus in their hearts. My 10-year-old has and I am praying that my 6-year-old will.

    2) To be a father and husband that is respected not by a company or an organization, but by God and my family. At the end of the day, are my actions something God and my family can be proud of?

  2. Bob, thank you for your courage to make these public. And perhaps even bigger than that, for having an answer right away. There are probably folks out there who can’t yet list their big goals, because, well, I don’t know why.

If you’re one of those people, you’re the second (our son is the first) reason I write every day. To challenge, nudge, help, antagonize, and annoy you – to be the type of person you are meant to be but haven’t found the courage yet to be that person.

With time, there’s a great hope that more folks will participate. Please consider yourself welcome to at any time. Collectively, we can make the world better than it currently is. But it will take all of us to do more than we currently do.

  3. Dear Jeff,

For me, these prayers are daily for me. That is why the answer was ready to be written down. Whether I am audibly praying them or thinking about them daily, they are both on my mind and in my heart.

I appreciate you for being the “grain of sand” in my oyster shell of the world.

    Bob
