How Does One Go About Praying 90-Days Ahead?

Morning dew during a morning run in North Carolina.

Just to clarify, I’m not saying we pray into the future, like for a successful retirement. Not that kind of praying ahead, but praying for a specific petition to be successful 90 days from today (give or take a day or so).

Where does a person start? Is it worth it? Is it crazy? Could it lead to some sort of personal spiritual breakthrough?

Internet's only five-a-day blogger, leaving a trail for our son. This is about putting the spirit of Love at the center of your life. It may be God, Allah, Mohammed, Buddha, Yahweh, etc. For me, it's Jesus.

Jeff,

I think it is a great idea to pray in advance. Why? The biggest thing is that it teaches us how to develop our faith, because we are trusting that wherever we end up on our path in 90 days, God will be there.

It is kind of like the song from the group Newsong entitled, “Fingertips and Noses.” In essence, the future Hope creates a current faith. I won’t post the lyrics, but here’s a link. https://www.lyricskeeper.com/newsong-lyrics/220605-fingertips_and_noses-lyrics.htm

Bob, love those lyrics (and Newsong ). What’s interesting is the concept of applying a business technique – say, end of the quarter results, to prayer.

We know how to set goals and work diligently to achieve them in business.

But what about prayer? 🙂

Jeff,

Prayer is the conversation with God about where He is leading you on that 90-day journey.

Bob, yes and…. I can’t say that I look ahead, say to July 13 and ask, what do I want to accomplish spiritually by that date.

Because this is a new thought, it may take a few days (weeks, months) to get my arms (and heart) around it. 🙂

I don’t know if I could pray 90 days in advance. I try to focus on today and receiving His daily bread, today, which might not be in the form of the Eucharist. That said I have been praying for safe travel for us and all others traveling in the upcoming weeks.

Patty, like business we have daily goals, short-term goals, medium range and long range. I think spiritually we have goals on the near and far ends, but I can’t say that I think of it (consciously and specifically) in any other terms. Want to try to see what happens.

Safe travels.
