Mountain Lake
Hidden Lake.
Mountain trail in the fall
Hidden Lake trail, well past the overlook.
18-second video: From the popular Overlook, the trail drops another 1.2 miles down to Hidden Lake ’beach’.
36-second video: Ian is weighing heavy. But not heavy enough to buy an early plane ticket home.

Hiking is walking, outside.

You do not need mountains, deserts, or beaches to ”hike”.

You simply need two fundamentals:

  1. Walking
  2. Outside

You can hike (walk) alone or with others. Doesn’t matter.

Here’s what matters: An object in motion tends to stay in motion. An object at rest tends to stay at rest.

14-second video: We did not expect the sun to light the entire lake.

The beauty today is built on patience, presence, and positivity.

Patience drove today’s experience.

Because we had no desire to hurry, we stayed at Grinnell Lake long enough to want to stay longer.

We did not want to leave.

The Sun’s appearance is delayed 20 minutes while it rises past Going-to-the-Sun Mountain (seen here).

Chuck adapted well to the extra miles and extra elevation gain. He’s set to do Grand Canyon’s 20-mile Rim-to-Rim hike in a week.
