Nobody is going to tow you to success

Disney's Eyes & Ears
Eyes & Ears is the Walt Disney World Company newsletter. In English and Spanish.

Disney University
Yesterday’s lunch spot.

Nobody is going to tow you to success.

In this case (at this blog), we’re talking about personal peace and contentment.

You must do the heavy lifting to shed what doesn’t let peace into your life.

You must do the heavy lifting to eliminate distractions, medications, and entertainment that feels addictive.

Dear Son

Nothing in excess and know thyself

High School Graduation
Dr. Brenda Fields gave an inspiring and practical speech.

Nothing in excess and know thyself.

Our Son’s Latin teacher has a remarkable reputation at High School, and she was overwhelmingly chosen by the students to deliver the 2018 graduating class the commencement speech.

A significant part of her speech revolved around the Enid – with the two main point being:

  1. Nothing in excess
  2. Know thyself

Sound wisdom back then.

And still today.

Surrender like you mean it

Gapingvoid Art
Most people don’t exercise. Most don’t surrender either. Photo: yesterday’s email.

Surrender like you mean it.

My job as a business consultant and advisor is to evaluate.

To look, listen, and feel what is obvious to outsiders.

Why?

Insiders are too close.

They can’t see things with the clarity and unfiltered impressions a complete outsider sees.

This skill transfers – whether i want it to or not – to family, friends and colleagues.

To have valuable insight into undiscovered opportunity is a burden.

i surrender to what i can’t control.

Surrender requires a deep and complete letting go of the good choices never made.

Unanswered Questions?

All we can do

car accident
Yesterday’s bike ride to the gym. This is where the vehicle was removed and pulled back out onto the road to take away.

car accident
The vehicle came off the road, onto the sidewalk about 100 feet past my bike. My bike marks where the vehicle went off the sidewalk and into the grass.

car accident
The vehicle narrowly missed the fire hydrant and came to rest at the forest’s edge.

missing person poster
Seven miles later and one block from the gym, i passed this poster.

missing person poster
Unimaginable pain (and hope) twelve years later. It’s the same design from 2006, and they were everywhere. But they all faded over the years. This is a fresh poster, less than a month old. i pass this exact spot three times a week.

Horse back riding in residential area
One street away from home, a neighbor on her horse (right).

All we can do is all we can do.

So then the question becomes, “How do we know if we are doing all we can do?”

Blessed Beyond Measure?

You have control over the most powerful computer ever made

You have control over the most powerful computer ever made.

i refuse to believe we are not capable.

(of course there are exceptions to every rule)

That said, if you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right.

So the obvious choice is to make it so.
