Funeral attendee quota

Disney monorail
Crowds are great if you are an accountant.

Many people judge funerals by the number of people that attend. These same people believe a bunch of people will then say nice things about the deceased person so that everybody can know what a great person the deceased was while on this planet.

This came to me now while biking past a cemetery. Just stopped to dictate this blog post. And it dawns on me it would be better for a person to have a great life and everyone important to that person knows exactly where they stand.

Essentially, the attendees wouldn’t need to hear a bunch of other people’s stories.

The attendees didn’t need a funeral to have other people share the deceased person’s story.

The attendees have their own library of wonderful memories.

End of Life planning is cool

End of life plans document
Snippet from end of life plans document. Written yesterday, April 4, 2020.

End of Life planning is cool.

What?

Seriously, Covid-19 had me dust off my Last Will and Testament, which led to the revision of other legal documents, as well as add two more legal directives.

We plan for birth, we plan for a career, and if we are truly blessed with courage, vision, and peace, we plan for our earthly departure.

Mourn, celebrate, or both

Disney Marathon detour
Walt Disney World Marathon sign…my gym on right. Walking home.

Mourn, celebrate, or both?

Life is a marathon, not a sprint.

Fifty-one years old.

Twin 17-year olds.

Husband of 25 years.

These are stats many people never get close to experiencing.

None of us who pass the half-century mark should carry too much (if any) regret.

What a blessing to have stats like those.

Will your death be the third most magnificent day in your life?

Family memories
Jane and Larry Brockman’s wedding day, 1970. They moved to Orlando from California in 1984 and began serving at Holy Family Orlando Catholic Church.

Family memories
Jane and Larry Brockman’s family, mid-late 1970’s. They had five children, and as of yesterday, 13 grandchildren.

Jane Brockman’s life remembered- highlights from the second half of Jane’s 70 years.

Will your death be the third most magnificent day in your life?

Depends entirely on your beliefs.

Whatever you believe, my wish for you is that you believe like you mean it.

Yesterday was Jane’s funeral at Holy Family.

Larry, Jane’s husband and one of our Deacons, gave a wonderful tribute to Jane. Jane’s middle daughter, Katie, did the same.

It was beautiful.

Glorious even.

Never told a soul

quote
Profound.

Reunited for a two-day client engagement. The ninth time we’ve been together. The CEO, his Cabinet, and administrative staff

The CEO, his Cabinet, and the administrative staff and i have grown closer with each engagement.

Never told a soul.

The executive team i’ve been working with asked, “How have you been?”

What was i gonna say, “Awful. Went to two Family funerals in one week.”
