GNP Day 6, spiritually

22-second video: Virginia Falls. Before the 2016 Synder Creek fire you never see anything from the trail. Why? Because the lush forest blocked everything.

The day is won in the morning. The morning is won the night before.

Small stones with shadows
The tiny pebbles cast big shadows.

The price you pay for an early start is nothing.

Habits are habits.

Starting early is a habit.

Reaping benefits the crowd never knows about is also a habit.

8-second video: Sent this to a local business partner.

This Summer, blogging will be different in Glacier.

CLever social media post
OMGOSH. Too funny. From an unattributed LinkedIn post.
DocuSign document receipt
Work from anywhere, anytime. Signed this contract from an iPhone in the middle of millions of acres of Grizzly Bear habitat.

Been planning a GNP blogging strategy for several months.

The fact that today (GNP Day 5) took 11 hours to administer just five days (25 posts) of posts, well….

Well, imagine 22 days worth (110 posts) once this first 2022 trip concludes.

Not to mention another 36 days (180 posts) after Summer 2022’s second trip.

Mind boggling, eh?

GNP Day 4, spiritually

Small café
No assigned seats nor meal period for breakfast. Opens at 7:00am. First come, first served.
Mountain chalet
At 6,600’ Beargrass is just starting to bloom. At Lake McDonald (3,200’) Beargrass peaked a month ago and there are no more blooms there.
Mountain chalet
Your 2022 Pixar/Glacier photo-bombers.
Breakfast order
Happy hiking indeed. It’s all downhill (or flat) from here.
Breakfast order
Go the extra inch, even when you’re the customer.
10-second video: Beargrass blooms later as the elevation increases.
Horse tracks On a muddy trail
As the horseback tour group of 10 rode by, i said to the lead wrangler (and loud enough for others to hear), “Take only photos, leave only awesome. There’s nothing but awesome ahead.” Spontaneous thought…and i love it.

Take only pictures, leave only awesome.

dad

Take only pictures, leave only awesome. There’s nothing but awesome ahead.

They had another three mile horseback ride to the Chalet. Plenty of awesome to make special memories on a magical outdoor experience.

Note: Always and instinctively going the extra inch, quickly thought of something to make the group smile.

7-second video: walking to room.
2-second video: front porch.
4-second video: Stayed in room 20 on my first visit in 2019.
Mountain chalet room
Corner room with two sets of windows.
6-second video: yes indeed, rain turned to sleet.
5-second video: Second video to verify sleet, or maybe ‘snow pellets’.

Enjoy the journey, not the destination.

dad

We do not stay here to enjoy the Chalet. We stay here as a jumping off point for spectacular hikes. Hikes otherwise unachievable for an out and back day trip.

Note: You could do these hikes in one day but even active people would pay a high physical price. Joy – and presence – gets removed from pushing to do too much in too little time. The destination becomes the goal because you must get there so you can turn around and get back to civilization.

13-second video: Here is where i veered right to explore – an area i’ve never stepped foot on.
Wildflowers
Wildflower season ramps up as snow melts.
Mountains
Clements Mountain from a first-ever angle. The moon makes a guest appearance.
Small Disney character toys in the mountains
This cliff ledge is exciting to experience. A new frontier.

Lean into adventure.

6-second video: Mei Mei and (Elvis) Stitch make an appearance.
11-second Continental Divide panorama, featuring Granite Park Chalet at the start.

Expertise is the ability to do something effortlessly that others consider heavy lifting.

To easily channel creative energy into an inspiring solution pays generous dividends.

Relentless practice.

Dividends reaped from countless challenges and trail and error solutions.
