Once a year is better

No breeze at 6:30 AM yesterday.
On yesterday morning’s pre-sunrise walk, a moment to admire our neighbor’s front yard. John is a Marine and was a Gunner in Vietnam.
Later yesterday.
John is proud of his service to our Country. Old Glory fueled by a warm November breeze.

Veterans Day 2019 was yesterday.

One day a year to honor our Veterans seems disproportionate to the blanket of Freedom we sleep under every night.

Here is a way of realizing that honoring our Veterans once a year is better than not having an official day…and what you might do starting November 12, today…

We come to know the true meaning of Veterans Day when we learn to celebrate it every day.

Hate the war, love the warrior.

The Other Side

Where do wrinkles find joy?

Smiling faces on two of my favorite people.

Wrinkles only go where the smiles have been.

Wisdom only goes where the fear has been.

Joy only goes where the gratitude has been.

Peace only goes where the surrender has been.

Contentment only goes where the attachment has been.

How cool is it to love wrinkles versus seeing wrinkles as bad?

Blessed Beyond Measure?

Do you take it for granted?

Yesterday in Philadelphia.

Do you take your blessings for granted?

Why?

Because taking our blessings for granted robs us of gratitude which robs us of joy.

From the photo above, a few easy-to-think-of blessings:

  • Able to bend down pain-free
  • The gift of eyesight
  • Having a life partner to want to send flowers to
  • Being able to notice small things (the only daisies i saw all day)
  • Having 40+ year college friends to visit annually
  • Affordable airfare
  • A great camera on a great phone
  • A sunny, warm, mid-October day
  • A Philly bike-rental tour business
  • A safe city
  • A safe Country
  • Religious/worship freedom
  • A 60-year old body that can easily walk, bike, and function well
  • Etc, etc

Blessed Beyond Measure?

A lifetime of memories

Three cousins on a life journey.

A lifetime of memories can be stimulated from a single photo like the one here.

A lifetime of gratitude can be stimulated from a single morning.

How?

Waking up and being grateful for the gift of another day.

Like right now.

Final 120 Days

Simultaneous translation gratitude

Diego and Vivian shared simultaneous translation duties backstage.

Simultaneous translation gratitude goes to Diego (pictured above) and Vivian (whom i met after the photo opportunity).

The original goal – and i asked permission to do this publicly – was to say thanks to Diego and Vivian at the speech’s start so the audience could feel a connection to the Spanish voice in their ear, translating the Disney Creativity messages.

Dear Son, i forgot.

PS. Asked Thinking Heads to get their emails so i could apologize. They were gone soon after my speech.
