Doing the right things right

Anything more important than balancing your mind, body, spirit, work, home?

Doing the right things right.

Seems so obvious.

There’s a perverse reality that many are doing the wrong things right.

In a distracted, medicated, and entertained world, we are severely inadequate at carving out self-reflection time.

To thine own self be true?

Not if we don’t know our priorities, our values, and our purpose.

Seems so obvious, but it isn’t.

You know exactly what i’m talking about.

Congrats on working diligently to over-focus on your priorities, values, and purpose.

What you do thunders so loudly

clip bar history
Clif bar history…almost everything good (or bad) starts from a small and humble seed.

You are what you do, not what you say you’re gonna do.

What you do thunders so loudly, i can’t hear what you say.

Dislike your job (your boss, lack of opportunity, repetitiveness, hours, following orders, etc) and dream of being your own boss?

Guess how we can tell if you mean it.

Some things are so simple they confuse us

Glacier in August snow
So different for late August. So cold. So beautiful.

Pencil or a broom?

Earn with your mind (pencil), not your time (broom).

Do or think?

Pray with your steps or with your thoughts.

If that last sentence didn’t make sense, try rereading it.

Everything speaks

Disney Keynote Speaker
Actions speak louder than words.

Everything speaks.

We judge ourselves on our intentions.

Others judge us on our behaviors.

Every person is telling a story about what he or she values.

Be careful what you say and do – because, yes, everyone is watching you and judging you.

You’ll never get in trouble if you make this kind of mistake

Catholic Lectors
Have never heard a Lector do this – reading something recommended from Lectorprep.org.

You’ll never get in trouble for making a mistake while trying to do the right thing.

It was that way at Disney, if you had a great leader. Not sure how it plays out in the Catholic Church.

Note: i did as the note above suggests. Hours later, an email asking me to not do it again. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

PS. Several Parishioners told me immediately after Mass that the context was important and that it helped them understand the reading.
