Familiarity breeds contempt

Jesus said a prophet cannot be respected in their own town, with their own people.

Why would He say that?

What does this mean?

My friend Dennis claims sayings and cliches only become so when they are true.

Familiarity breeds contempt.

What if you worked at Apple, say like Steve Jobs, and they fired you even though you were the founder?

What if you worked at one of the most admired companies in the world and you asked questions that others couldn’t (but should easily be able to) answer?

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

For the very first time ever he said…

Last week, for the very first time ever he said…

Because that’s what Jesus would do.

Still unsure if the 15-year old meant it, but he said he did.

Spending the next six nights in a Senior Housing facility

Spending the next six nights in a Senior Housing facility.

So what?

We’ll be surrounded by people who know that death is never far away.

Jesus knew this also and saw it as a way to glorify something to the entire world.

What if we thought this way (but on a much smaller level)?

Jimmy Carter believes Jesus would approve of Gay Marriage

Jimmy Carter believes Jesus would approve of Gay Marriage.

Why?

Because Jimmy…”believes Jesus would encourage any love affair that was honest and sincere and was not damaging to anyone else. And i don’t see that Gay marriage damages anyone else.”

There’s an outward hate aimed at our LBGT community.

And when i say hate, it is a blatant hatred, proliferated mainly through social media channels.

How hatred for someone else, for any reason, ever became part of the Bible is beyond my comprehension.

Stop looking at the wrong thing

Reading for fourth Sunday of Lent
My assigned reading next Sunday.

i asked the 15-year old to get to know Jesus and stop focusing on the human imperfections in Christians.

Why?

Focus on the ideal, not the reality.

Why?

So you can focus your efforts and work hard on living a life that uses the ideal as the benchmark, not the reality.
