Happy present moment and happy Palm Sunday

Happy Palm Sunday.

Happy present moment.

Faith, Hope, and Love.

Went out in the dark an hour ago to stoke last night’s fire.

Metaphorically, lots of Christians do the same on Christmas and Easter.

It’s good to see them twice a year.

Better than zero, right?

i knew the Pastor could use something to feed on

LifeBridge Pastor Matt Heard
LifeBridge Pastor Matt Heard.

After the sermon, our son (16) and i waited our turn at the end of the line to talk to the Pastor.

Finally, it was our turn…

“We sat in the last row, as a compromise between our son not wanting to come and me wanting to be in the front row.”

Shared that a week ago, in the same row, we didn’t feel anything (bored, truth be told), but today we felt passion. With no offense or judgement to last week’s sermon (different Pastor).

i told Matt there were probably many who felt as i did but they probably take for granted that “Matt knows this” and never say a word.

“i just wanted to feed you.”

He was there to feed us. Yet there are no rules saying we can’t bring a meal ourselves to share.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Dear Heavenly Father, please keep the devil off my back

Lifebridge Church Windermere
There is much to be gained from reading word for word, and much to be lost.

Lifebridge Church Windermere
Saying a lot in a short period of time is way more difficult than it seems.

Lifebridge Church Windermere
So challenging to meet the listening needs of a diverse audience, including the diversity of where people sit (for example, we sat in the last row).

When you hope a teenager is inspired and they tell you honestly they aren’t – it’s time for Grace and time for being non-judgemental (of the speaker).

“Maybe they asked him last night to fill in, or maybe only a few days ago. Maybe he doesn’t speak often.”

Resist the temptation to judge.

Resist at all costs.

Don’t. Do. It.

Critiquing a speaker for me is the same as a chef visiting a restaurant when they’re hungry. It’s literally impossible to not make a judgement with the first bite of every food item on her plate – she can’t help herself, it’s in her blood. It’s automatic. And human.

It’s instinctual to help us survive.

Should i spit this out because it’s awful?

Do i want to come back because it’s so amazing?

Perhaps a random reminder on an ordinary, uneventful morning run.

Why?

Well, why not?

He’s an early bird too.

Overfed the movie
Overfed and Undernourished was fascinating. A documentary.

The four-hour flight to Orlando seemed grueling before it started, but the seat-back video screens allowed us to freely watch a wide variety of entertainment. Overfed and Undernourished was captivating, and inspiring.
