Just had a relapse epiphany

Just had a relapse epiphany.

Another blinding flash of the obvious.

Watched a brief clip of Simon Sinek and it hit me what it is about his style that has always felt off to me, but not until watching this clip.

First let me say he’s a brilliant and gifted speaker and storyteller.

The epiphany last night was the revelation of his absence of personal experience examples in his speaking.

As a speaker, it finally made sense.

Be passionate, tell stories, use personal examples.

Two out of three isn’t three out of three and i must ensure to avoid the same industry stereotypical standard.

Confront and experience

These hikers were present and mindful enough to recognize a dangerously lose rock and move it to a stable position. They confronted danger for someone else and experienced the peace in knowing they did what they could.

A wonderful conversation yesterday with a college freshman.

Asked, “How is college?”

A delightful reply, “When bad things happen, I’m able to confront them. When good things happen, I am able to experience them.”

Profoundly simple and simply profound.

As an adult community, we should all be so equipped, mindful, and present.

Personal responsibility is your highest priority

Technology isn’t the answer for organizational creativity.
John Faurote, the owner, credits the middle guy for his company.

Technology isn’t the answer for organizational creativity. Technology is simply one of many delivery systems in which you exceed your customer’s, employee’s and shareholder’s expectations.

Religion isn’t the answer for emotional vibrancy. Religion is simply one of many delivery systems in which you manage your emotions, relationships (including the one you have with yourself), and life-purpose.

What does humanity gain by not changing?

Most people need love and acceptance a lot more than they need advice. – Bob Goff

Read this on LinkedIn yesterday.

It stopped me.

i thought for a few minutes and then had to type this train of thought…

i agree with Bob.

But betting i differ on where “most people” would find enough generous love and acceptance.

In the mirror.

Love and acceptance is an inside job.

The Internet (or a library) offers unlimited learning. Somewhere along human evolution, we’ve neglected teaching our youth the power of the growth mindset and personal accountability for our mind, body, spirit, work, and home.

We shun this opportunity during public and private education.

And thus send generation after generation into adulthood, and parenting, only to perpetuate our current reality.

We may assume that we, ourselves, have also been sent into adulthood unprepared, because our parents were sent out unprepared.

As a misfit, i’m simply a dad that recognizes the much is and decided to break the chain.

In a perfect world, Son, you will be much better at this than i have been.

Don’t base your beliefs on what others fail to do

undaunted Goucher College
Love this, undaunted.

Don’t base your beliefs on what others fail to do.

Hypocrites make for bad role models.

Truth is, we are all hypocrites.

We wouldn’t need peace and contentment if we were perfect.

Strive to base your belief system of what would make our world, and your life, a beautiful place to live.
