Dear Son, my email response to an email prayer request

God our Creator
Our God is an awesome, loving God

Dear Son, my email response to an email prayer request…

Sickness, illness, tragedy… none of these make sense, since our God is a loving God. As we all struggle to find meaning, the thought just occurred (seriously) as I typed the first sentence…

maybe the blessing is so painstakingly obvious that we can no longer see it…

the blessing is that we have life… and every minute of every day is a gift… and maybe if we enjoyed more of those, then when the time comes when that opportunity narrows or goes away… we don’t feel sorrow or regret, but joy that our loved one is going to see the King of Kings.

and maybe our hardships are blessings in disguise…

Don’t have the answers, but do have the gift of thinking about them… we all do.

Dear Heavenly Father, we trust that Your will be done. Please help us in our human weakness and imperfection.

99 To 1

The Shepherd leaves the 99 to find the 1. Asked to include a lost and dying soul, Larry, in my prayers, this request is now extended out to all of you.

Years ago, Larry’s Father went for a walk. He was found five days later in the woods, hanging from a tree. Ever since, Larry has battled alcoholism, and is currently homeless.

And now, Larry is dying of Liver cancer, and does not know Jesus. My friend has known Larry since 1973, and hopes upon hope to return this lost sheep to the flock before the wolves take him.

Will Today Contain Love?

Think He's Hungry, And Lonely?
Think He's Hungry, And Lonely?

You have more Love inside you than you realize. I’m absolutely convinced of this. And last night at the Apple Store reinforced this.

Struck up a conversation with an Apple Store employee about Mid Life Celebration, and the whole five (different) daily blogs. The Apple employee looked very surprised. I mean, who writes five (different) daily blogs?

No one.

So anyway, after explaining the business model, the Apple Store employee shared a story about a homeless “beggar”. Instead of giving the beggar money, she went and bought him a meal (maybe from Subway) and then came back and gave it to him.

Wait, this is where it gets even better. She witnessed the beggar share half of the sandwich with another homeless person that she wasn’t even aware was nearby.

Will you do anything today to help make the world a better place? It doesn’t have to be big but it does have to contain Love.

Pray Without Ceasing

Pray without ceasing. It rolls off our tongues so easily.

But do we?

Do we actually do it?

This is one of the biggest challenges humans face and the main reason we are so disconnected from what we want and from what we actually get.

Ever wonder what you’d get if you actually DID pray without ceasing?

Find a million ways to do this – to stay in the moment. Those continuous, seemingly insignificant moments that make up our day. Day after day. Week after week. Month after month. Year after year.
