How dare you think this way

How dare you think this way, and then not dare to think this way every single day you are alive…

The gospel says you are more sinful and flawed than you ever dared believe, but more accepted and loved than you ever dared hope.” – Timothy Keller

How can we not make a guarantee to be an example instead of a warning?

How can we not make a gaurantee to be an example instead of a warning?

Everything we do and say tells a story about what is at the center of our universe.

The challenge is that we judge our story based on our intentions, others judge our story based on our behaviors.

Big dif.

Huge difference.

And almost always in conflict with each other.

So may we be crystal clear on the center of our universe.

And may our behaviors (not our thoughts) be the kind of example that others aspire to emulate.

Ever make a commitment to volunteer, and do a pretty decent job at fulfilling your promise to yourself and to the others?

Ever stumble and fall, and wonder if you’ll be able to recover?

What do you do? Give up? Keep on keepin’ on?

Tonight will be the first time in weeks I’ve been able to attend Catechism. Traveling as a professional speaker sometimes inhibits the ability to live up to that volunteer commitment – to the teacher and to the children.

I Hate Hearing From My Friends

What I mean is I hate hearing when tragedy happens. Two days ago an email shared the news that one of our college buddies had a tragedy. His teenage son died of a drug overdose.

Can you even fathom this? I can not.

For our friend, this probably makes 9/11 look like a picnic.

May I simply ask anyone reading this to try to absorb some of his pain?

Tragedy strikes us all. None of is immune from this. Perhaps this is the time when we are tempted to believe God doesn’t exist.

God never said life would be easy, He simply promises we will not walk alone. Our big challenge is to actually believe this when horrific tragedy is our shadow.
