Church is out

St Mary Lake unique view
This view requires a 10-mile roundtrip hike off the beaten path. Estimating 99.99% of Hidden Lake Trail (most popular trail) hikers never visit this trail.

Church is out.

No plans to be in large groups.

Social distancing. Social positioning.

The gym may be next.

All in an effort to flatten the spike of inevitable Covid19 transmission.

Why?

To not overburden our healthcare system and to buy time for an adequate medical solution.

Emotional judgement

Infinite scrolling from social media has us trained to judge faster.

We move through updates quickly.

Why?

It’s literally the only way to “keep up”.

And we generally judge. You are probably an exception, but most of us make judgements continuously.

Judgement leads to exhaustion.

Stop judging, start recuperating.

Eventually freedom not only pays us a visit, but freedom ends up moving in with us.

But we have to curb social media.

Curb as in probably not partake.

If your goal isn’t impossible, you’re not reaching high enough.

Facebook midlife crisis

Self doubt encouragement
Social Media, particularly Facebook, can have insidiously negative side effects.

Facebook midlife crisis.

What is the point of Facebook?

To:

  • Brag?
  • Complain?
  • Compare?
  • Sell?
  • Laugh?
  • Be somebody?
  • Prove something?

How many friends are too many, too few, or just right?

When you have hundreds, is it ok to secretly mute their notifications? If one of your friends mutes you on their account, your posts are never seen by your friend.

How much time spent trying to keep up is too much, not enough, or just right?

If you stopped posting updates, would anyone notice? Would anyone care?

Why do we hit the ‘Like’ button so often?

Why don’t we hit the ‘Like’ button more often?

Why? What? How? When?

How do i stop (habitually) reaching for my phone every spare moment to see if there are more updates – that little red circle with a number that insidiously makes me feel important (or lonely).

What keeps you up at night?

Map My Run screen shot
Yesterday. Doing the math from the photo time 7:39am, minus the run duration, 92 minutes…left the house at 6:07am

What keeps you up at night?

For some reason, i knocked on his door at 6:45am and asked the question above. i knew he was in for a busy morning because of school wide PSAT testing.

He said he usually never has anything keeping him up. But yesterday he sent an email to 20 people and only heard back from three.

We should be quick to reply back to God also. He’s sending us messages everyday as well.

Everyday.

And most likely, all day.

Insight: i am not sure i have great listening and responding skills.
