Three lessons Glacier taught me about spirituality

Three lessons Glacier taught me about spirituality:

  • Nature is God manifested in everything you see, as far as you can see.
  • Be nice, and friendly, to people on the trail.
  • What you do on the trail and what you do away from Glacier should match.

Don’t let the fear of being wrong deter you

Until the Internet and smartphone, the world never had fingertip access to the vast diversity of belief and opinion.

As you journey on, decide for yourself what is the center of your spiritual/emotional belief system.

No longer does any person have to rely on the doctrine honed and propagated by restricted access to world views.

Tradition has tremendous value. So do breakthroughs.

We’re weak, greedy, self-centered, egotistical, and a few other unflattering things

Heart shaped stone
Love surrounds us.

It occurs to me, from observation mostly, that some people are against “religion” not because of spirituality, but because the people who belong to a said religion are so flawed.

This is a really important point.

Humans are flawed.

We’re weak, greedy, self-centered, egotistical, and a few other unflattering things.

“Religion” is the vision of what we’re to aim for.

It may be unattainable.

Many religious people may not even be close.

i never want them to be my reason for having an argument against spirituality.

The overwhelming similarity is Love

Orlando Mosque
Same message – an overwhelming message of Love.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Please help me today to be kind and generous and patient. And help me to be forgiving, and loving. Help me to be a light for others. Help me radiate Your warmth, your compassion and your mercy.

And help me to be Your voice that encourages others to transform their situation.

On Facebook, a friend wrote that “people who tell others that they can do anything are cruel, just visit a rehab facility”.

Some, in that very same rehab facility need to hear that they can transform.

Yes, a difficult balance in messaging versus audience.

What we say may overwhelm some, while for others what we say is the perfect encouragement.

Please help me to understand the difference.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

This website is about our spiritual health. To leave this site to read today’s post on jeff’s career health website, click here.

Spirituality comes from someplace deep inside us. It’s the thing we humans call a soul.

It’s our emotional core.

Spirituality doesn’t come from religion, but religion (compelling belief) is a great place to house it and tend to it.

All we have to do is decide who or what to credit for being the epicenter of our soul.
